Hope you're enjoying RBM so far. It's been fun curating this for you! This week we cover the impact of technology on human life and how profound it is in enhancing societal and individual well-being, with GenAI helping to bring further improvements. In CAD history, PTC’s innovations transformed design processes, demonstrating significant industry influence. Now, AI integration in cloud services intensifies competition among providers like AWS, Microsoft, and Google and the UK'S CMA has some serious warnings! Yes, Google’s AI Overviews struggle with inaccuracies due to model limitations - another flop? Finally, nostalgia time with a deep article on marketing strategies for “Ghost in the Shell” revealing the lasting legacy and commercial success, highlighting its unique cyberpunk aesthetic and philosophical themes - and I love it! See you next week!

We're back! Still with a terribly slow internet connection - slower than ADSL - but managed to do this week's edition in advance! :) So, let's dig in! We have then Microsoft executives emphasizing their strategic pivot to AI, highlighting integration across products, partnerships, and competition. This is really transforming technology and enterprise solutions, with tools like AI-driven Copilot+ PCs enhancing user experience. Then there's the European Digital Identity Regulation which aims to provide a secure digital identity for EU citizens by 2026, promoting digital interactions. Daniel Miessler advises planning careers around problem-solving to ensure stability in an AI-driven world. Finally, it's subscriptions time and everyone's jumping between them! Ah! Did you know that Xiaomi’s new production processes allow it to manufacture the SU7 electric vehicle every 76 seconds?

This week #RBM edition is focused on the evolution of Pixel's design and its iconic camera bar, but also about the pioneering role of Google's Camera app in advancing computational photography. We'll be also covering groundbreaking developments in semi-transparent cameras for augmented reality, innovative biocomputing experiments blending human brain cells with technology, and strategic insights for digital health founders navigating the healthcare industry. Finally, there are few challenges in the adoption of passkeys for security, and I couldn't close this without nostalgia, this time, it's virus time! See you next week!

This week is, again, shorter in the UK with the Bank Holiday, but todays RBM edition is packed with cool stuff, with a series of thought-provoking articles that ranged from technological nostalgia to modern workplace strategies! One standout piece highlighted the resurgence of website home pages, but also this year also marks the 60th anniversary of BASIC. Additionally, the conversation around workplace burnout in the engineering sector offers crucial insights on maintaining balance and self-care to sustain innovation and productivity. The "Tarzan Method" of career development also caught my attention, advocating for a non-linear, explorative approach to professional growth, which resonates deeply with my own experiences across a dynamic 27-year career in technology. Finaly, we'll soon have discussions around the ethical use of surveillance and biometric technologies in Europe, highlighting critical privacy concerns in our increasingly digital world.See you next week!

This week edition is mix between new tech and nostalgia - as it should! :) From a Trustworthy Language Model that evaluates the reliability of language model responses, crucial for high-stakes environments, to Nokia's lunar 4G network, part of NASA's Artemis program, aiming to enhance Moon-based communications. But also, about Kilby and Noyce's independent development of the integrated circuit catalyzed modern electronics. The nostalgic Microsoft's release of MS-DOS 4.0's source code which revitalizes interest in vintage software, while Linus Torvalds discusses security and AI's role in open source at the OpenSource Summit. Lastly, "The Forgotten War on Beepers" details the historical backlash against beepers, likened to today's smartphone concerns in schools - and me owning the CocaCola beeper! See you next week!

This week we understood the efforts Amazon is doing to kill Alexa, I've did a #NAT video about FEMA (Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) and its complexity and applicability in the DevOps and Observability world, figure out that GitHub Copilot is top pick for coders, got a bunch of details from the German FOIS regarding GenAI and its security risk, but also about Misinformation and how to detect it. Today's #RBM edition is going to be a mix of throwback / nostalgic week with a lot of retro tech and in-depth analysis of it, but also an interesting framework for Product-Market Fit. We'll also understand how Riot Game is dealing with cheating and why journalism in the digital age is suffering. Now on to retro tech; it's all about Etak - the navigator, Novell and two oldies; the Olivetti M10 and the NEC PC-8201A. On yeah, and the end of Z80.
